Skyhooks - bonus album no. 2 demos and dialogue

Jane’s Addiction was one of the more popular acts during the major alternative rock boom of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.  Along with “Been Caught Stealing” and “Stop”, “Mountain Song” is one of their most recognizable songs.  Jane’s Addiction’s approach to music and lead singer Perry Farrell’s vocal style do not seem to mesh well with metal, especially a band as heavy as Sepultura.  However on their covers EP Revolusongs , somehow the thrash heavyweights were able to turn the song on its head to create one really well done metal song.  In our eyes, the heavy riffs and deeper vocals of the cover are the way the song was meant to sound.  We would even dare to say, it’s better than the original.

The debut LP Daddy Who? ... Daddy Cool! was released in July 1971. It too went to #1 and smashed all previous sales records -- it went gold within the month, sold an unprecedented 60,000 copies from its initial release, and went on to become the first Australian LP to sell more than 100,000 copies locally. The album was originally issued in a textured cover, and the cover illustration -- a cartoon rendering of the band members by Melbourne artist (and Go-Set staffer) Ian McCausland -- effectively became the group's logo. McCausland created most of the band's graphics and was responsible for much of their visual image, on which he collaborated with Ross Hannaford.

Both " Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds " and " Philadelphia Freedom " were originally released as non-album singles, but years later both songs, along with "Lucy"'s B-Side, the John Lennon -penned "One Day at a Time", were included as bonus tracks on the remastered Captain Fantastic CD reissue (although the version of "Philadelphia Freedom" used is the edit from 1990's The Very Best of Elton John ).
